The First Adventure Review

A really neat exploration rules-lite RPG by Quorum of Sand.  Watch the video for my in-depth review!

UNBOXING TIME!

I’m so excited when I received Radlands deluxe edition in mail.  Roxley Games is one of my favorite board games publishers and you just can’t go wrong with their games.  The box cover art is gorgeous and classic Manny Trembley’s style.  I really dig the color choice due to the contrast between the white, purple, and black.

First impression: Totally radical 80s vibes! Not really a fan of the plastic insert, but then again, I hate most inserts in general so that might be just me.  Love how both of the playmats and the deck box fit very well in this box with some room for extra content (hopefully!) in future.  I really dig the contrast on the deckbox cover art. It works very well here along with the dark playmats.  Again, not a fan of the pink plasticy insert…

The playmats are GORGEOUS! I really love the color scheme and style in both.  I think I would lean toward the left one because my favorite color is green, but both still look great here.

This is everything from the white deckbox.  Small rulesbook which is totally my style and it includes a lot of nice visual examples for set up and how the rules work which is very nice.  Again, the artwork are amazing on the cards and the color choices totally rock.  Roxley Games talked about using a new type of material for the cards.  I think it’s some kind of plastic, similar to PVC, which is supposed to make the cards more durable and hard to rip apart.  I didn’t test my cards too much but I did bend it a little to see how it feels and it definitely feel much more durable and flexible.  I think the color stand out a lot more as well compared to other cards I have in various board games.

VERDICT: Look very impressive!  Can’t wait to play this game!

HAUL OF THE WEEK

::Mörk Borg Heretic Kickstarter bundle (including GM screen, Heretic and Feretory zines, a pamphlet adventure, character sheet pad, IKUON box, poster, and more)

::Exalted Funeral Black Friday order - Mystic Punks bundle, Old School Essentials Classic Fantasy Rules Tome, several Troika! stuff, Wet Grandpa, Disciples of Bone and Shadow, and many more.

WEEKLY GAMING

Normally I play/run multiple games per week, but last week has been super light with only one game.  Most of my groups had to reschedule our sessions due to real life stuff.  Why can’t we play games all day long everyday?!  I used the free time to catch up on reading some RPGs from my huge TBR pile, and start prepping a solo adventure using Disciples of Bone and Shadow.  I might do a summary of this adventure in a newsletter later if you are interested!

Monday: Spire - The Fool’s Errands - I play as a Carrion Priest in this campaign, and my character is slowly downspiraling in the Charnelite theology and before long they will become even more of a fanatic.  They is currently in a teeny bit of trouble with the law enforcement…
